The Van Gogh of the Banjo

We’re joining with three of the area’s heaviest, hard-rocking bands in Lewiston Saturday night April 23 in raising money for a local woman’s needed heart transplant.
WHO: The Half Moon Jug Band, Kaining Amy (Lewiston), Safe to Say (parts unknown) and The Motor Creeps (Lisbon Falls)
WHERE: Lewiston Elks Club 675 Lisbon Street Lewiston, ME 04240-3520 (207) 784-4801
WHEN: April 23, 7p.m.
HOW MUCH: $5 at the door
TO BENEFIT: Katrina Patterson
MORE INFO: Troy at 1-866-655-7171
We’re bound to to look a little silly playing kazoos and banjos along side of these bands, with their big amplifiers and distorted guitars. But hey, we’re used to looking silly, and it’s all for a good cause.
As an added bonus, folks who come out for the show get to see Mike the Drummer, pounding out the beats with his other project: The Motor Creeps.

The Van Gogh of the Banjo
Hey kids, I can see the sun today and the snowdrops are blooming beside the brick foundation across the way from HMJB HQ. Spring may not be here just yet, but I think it’s sending a postcard announcing it’ll be flying back from it’s summer home just outside Orlando any day now. So, with the sap running and the snow melting, instead of our noses running and will-to-live melting, it’s time to start announcing summer gigs.
May 21 Kicking off the warm weather we’ll be at the Oddfellow Theatre in Buckfield, home of world class jugglers, physical comedians… and us!
June 11 Back for another show at the Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake. We’re helping them raise funds to keep the stage lights burning and the young performers learning.
June 16 Somewhere in South Bristol, at a chicken bar-b-q. Details and recipes pending.
June 25 Wasamki Springs Campground in Scarborough.
June 29 We’ll always have Paris — Moore Park in South Paris, that is!
July 9 Wasamki Springs Campground in Scarborough.
July 28 Private show at Hidden Valley Camp. It’s hard to find, anyway.
Aug 13 Wasamki Springs Campground in Scarborough.
Sept 4 Springfield Fair in Springfield, Maine!
Sept 5 Harmony Fair in Harmony, Maine!
Oct 5 Fryeburg Fair — that’s Maine’s Blue Ribbon Classic — for our 12th year!
Look at the gigs page for more details and keep your radios tuned to this station for more gigs. They’re coming in fast. We’re busier than a one-legged man at a butt-kicking contest.
