Sunday morning lovin’

logo-mpbn1

As some of you already know, the band got some on-air action from DJ Sarah Willis over at Maine Public Broadcasting on her show “In Tune By Ten” this past Sunday. Snuggled between Richard and Linda Thmpson’s “I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight” and the Portland’s dearly departed (though still cuddly) Piners’ “Reckless Heart” was our song “You Could Do Better” from our new disc “Get the Show on the Road.”

Check out the playlist (number 17) for yourself HERE.

Take a minute and EMAIL SARAH and tell her how much you loved hearing us on the radio and implore here to play some more.

We had a spectacular time, and we’re treated like stars, at the Maine Roller Derby Saturday night. It was a huge stage with a huge sound system and a huge echo in the old Portland Expo — where I once saw Joan Jett back in the day. The after party at Bubba’s was equally impressive. Mike the Drummer was drawn to the lighted dance floor like a moth to a lighted dance floor. He kinda’ danced like one, too. Anyway, thanks to everyone at the Maine Roller Derby for having us at the bout and treating so well.

The comments are coming in via email about our new CD “GET THE SHOW ON THE ROAD.”

-  ”Just got the new CD today.  It’s great.  You’ve got another hit on your hands. I think the song “This Land is Your Land” might really have legs.” says Jon

- “I played your new cd for my pilates class this morning and one of my clients asked me three times what your band name was again, because she really liked it.” says Leslie from Pure Movement Portland

- “Hey Troy, thanks for the CD!  I love it!!  Looking forward to having you back next season.  Jug Band Music Rocks!” says Mike Miclon at The Oddfellow Theatre

- “Love it.” says Stephen Romanoff of Schooner Fare

Yep. we started to record this puppy back in February 08, when Glen was still in the band. We weren’t able to finish it due to his horrific, yet totally avoidable, snow-blowing accident. Sigh. We told him not to to stick his trumpet in there. Let it be a lesson for all of us. Now he honks when he walks and his family has to put valve oil in his nose when the temperature drops below freezing. Don’t even ask where the spit valve ended up.

Anyway.

We went back into the studio with our new guy, Carter, in the fall of 08 after warning him about the dangers of mixing instruments and lawn and garden equipment. So far, so good.

We ended up finishing the mix-down in March of 09. And presto, after more than a year of half-assed work we have the greatest Half Moon Jug Band CD you’ll hear all summer. Actually, we’re quite proud of our new, skinny, round baby and we can’t wait to see you, yes you, at a show this summer.

Our online retailer, CD Baby, needs a few more days to get it up on the web and ready to take your orders. In the meantime enjoy some pictures from the studio.
